YES, I have actually been married for 5 years.. and no, I wasn’t {exactly} a child bride. Well, maybe it depends on where you live how you define that term.
We were college (or uni 😉 ) sweethearts and we married a year after we graduated from school, at the ripe, young age of 22 (well, truthfully he was 23…so not a child groom).
And I know you’ll read all these inspiring articles about things you should do in twenties instead of get married–like travel the world, be wildly independent, establish your career…. BUT what if you meet the one person in the world that you can do all those amazing things with? Why can’t you do it all?! If you meet that person, don’t miss out on the opportunity to spend your life with your best friend–travel the world, learn how to be independent and dependent and selfless and adventurous, and go after that career you’ve dreamed about with a partner on your side.
and I get it, it doesn’t happen like this for everyone, but it did for me and this is my story.
We were married on September 4th, 2010, the most perfect North Carolina day. A lovely sunny and 70.
Surrounded by our dearest friends and family, we said our vows at First Baptist Church in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Our amazing photographers made this incredible day into picture perfect memories we’ll cherish forever. Check them out here.
We are headed to Norway to celebrate the BIG five years! 🙂

beautiful wedding photos! congrats on your anniversary! I celebrated my first a couple of days ago;)
thank you! congrats to you too!!!
thanx 🙂
My husband and I celebrated our fifth anniversary in July, and we got married right out of school as well. I completely agree with you that you can have it all! Just because you meet the right person for you early on doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t experience life with them because everybody else says you need to have certain experiences on your own. Enjoy Norway!
Happy anniversary to you too! Yes you said it so well! You can have it all! ?
These photos are so gorgeous Caroline! Your wedding dress and the pink dress are both lovely 🙂 I got married when I was 20 so I completely understand where you’re coming from. It’s amazing having someone to travel the world with and create all these memories together. Happy anniversary!!
Thank you!! It is so perfect having someone to share all these amazing life experiences with!!
Happy anniversary! I drive by that church all the time – so cool to see photos of it on your blog! Also, your wedding dress is gorgeous!
thank you! my husband is from winston so we had the whole wedding weekend there!! that church is one of my all time faves though!
What beautiful photos, my daughter Kate, was also married at 22, 6 years ago, and although her husband does not share her love of travel quite SO much, they have seen numerous countries together and she has travelled alone all over south-east Asia, India, Africa and recently 6 countries in South America, so it does not have to mean an end, but if you have the right person, a beginning. Thank you! I think it’s so great that your daughter found someone who lets her chase her dreams too! Even if you don’t share them all, you should always support one another! That’s great for her!
