A few weekends back, we spent a perfect 2 days exploring the gorgeous Cotswolds, an area in the English countryside composed of tiny (and adorable) villages. The villages most recognizable features are the honey colored limestone structures nestled in the beautiful, rural scenery. Autumn is such a wonderful time to wander from village to village because the leaves put on a beautiful show! Read about our itinerary here, then look at these amazing houses of the Cotswolds here, or seat back and enjoy these little snaps from the perfect spot for afternoon tea.
Bourton-on-the-water is affectionately called Venice of the Cotswolds with a pretty little stream weaving through the center of the village. It is a must-see in my opinion, and you’ll note the most crowds here.
The Cotswold area is very well known for classic British tearooms so plan time in your trip for (at least) one afternoon tea! This adorable tea room is called Smiths of Bourton and their many delicious cakes and tea made it all the more enjoyable.
^^couldn’t agree more! 🙂
Carrot cake, sticky toffee pudding, Victoria sponge cake, banana bread cake…
^^egg mayo sandwich to die for!
^^sticky toffee pudding with toffee glaze.
Be sure to stop in and then let me know what you think!
