Dubrovnik, known as the Pearl of the Adriatic, is one of the southern most cities of Croatia. The enchanting walled Old Town with it’s baroque buildings and orange tile roofing paralleled with the beautiful blue of the Adriatic is enough to take your breath away.
After an earthquake in 1667 nearly destroyed the entire city, the baroque architecture took over. Even damages from the war during 1991-1995 have all been repaired and the tourism industry is reveling in the influx of explorers eager to view the country’s coastline gem and maybe even venture out to one of the thousand islands off shore.
Here’s how we fell in love with Dubrovnik:
Spent the day getting lost in Old Town‘s winding paths, walking the wall, jumping off rocks at Buza Bar, drinking cold Ozujsko by the water, exploring the Pile, searching for the best spot to view the infamous Croatian sunset.
We spent the next morning having brunch in true European fashion… as in we sat there for hours upon hours enjoying the food, the coffee, the conversation.
Maybe you’re a HUGE Game of Thrones fan? Then definitely look into one of the many tours highlighting all of the famous scenes shot in Croatia. Who knows maybe you’ll see Queen Cersei or the King Slayer?! Or if you’re lucky like me, you’ll spot King Joffrey on the streets of Soho a week before!
From Dubrovnik we took the Krilo Star ferry to Split.. you can read more about Split here!
