If you’re looking for an exciting evening out with exceptionally delicious food and entertainment, Jackdaw is the answer. It’s a perfect date night out, a great spot for a get-together with your pals, or even pop in for a snack and coffee while you work….clearly, I’m a bit of a fan of this place.
This Clapton located, family run jazz cafe has a speakeasy vibe with touches of eclectic decor straight from owner Angela’s personal style book. She wanted the place to feel welcoming and unique–and with her frequently greeting and seating guests, it certainly does!
The food is British style tapas…and as someone who tried just about everything on the menu, I can vouch for this tasty idea! The small plates are so creatively conjured and the unique composition of flavors plays perfectly together.
The namesake brew is packaged perfectly with the signature jackdaw on the label. It is an unfiltered ale brewed specifically for the restaurant in Uppsala.
First round of drinks…a cosmopolitan for me (of course, it’s pink!) and a dark & stormy for the hubs! Delicious and colorful.
To start, artisan bread with arbequina olive oil.
Leek, truffle & katsuobushi…. you had me at truffle.
Padron peppers with smoked salt and breakfast radish with west Indian chili dressing. These spicy radishes were to die for…
Kale & baby beet salad with a blue cheese & yogurt dressing… so much flavor in this dressing and the perfect compliment to the hearty kale and beet flavors.
Shorthorn beef with aubergine & fennel and the last word cocktail.
Smoked ham broth with savoy cabbage… I loved this classic British dish with the tender ham paired with a tasty cabbage.
Gnocchi, black cabbage and pine nut. These gnocchi though…melt in your mouth!
Ready for the jazz, I grabbed an espresso martini and headed downstairs…
The downstairs jazz cafe is such an intimate setting, it is the perfect spot to sit back, relax and get lost in the sweet music.

We stayed the night at Batty Langley’s hotel in Spitalfields and the uber ride was less than £12…it’s a great night out for anyone but I think my traveling friends visiting London will love this spot! Also, if you’ve been following along for my DripApp recommendations, this is another partner–so pop in for a coffee anytime!
