If you’ve read my post about Paris <read here>, you know we were absolutely obsessed with the steak frites restaurant we stumbled upon. Well, what do ya know? They have locations here in London <as well as New York>. My endless frites and savoury steak dreams come true.
We popped over to the London City location a few Fridays back and were pleasantly surprised to find no queue (they don’t accept reservations). We were so pleased by this we decided to have a quick drink at a nearby pub before over indulging in steaks smothered in special sauce.
Upon return, the restaurant was beginning to fill up but we were informed that the real crowd turns up around 9 or 9:30. It was still “summer” here so maybe everyone was trying to enjoy those last few specks of sunlight.
Le Relais has a one item menu: salad, steak frites with secret sauce. And they certainly know how to do the one item right.
<images obtained from http://www.relaisdevenise.com/, mine were too blurry, I blame the house wine>
The food is delicious (did you gather that from above?), the service is speedy, and the atmosphere is ever so slightly Parisian. This is a definite must visit in my opinion!
Have you tried this quick and delicious meal? In London, Paris or NYC?

Here in Colorado Springs, there is a restaurant called Cowboy Star (they also have one in San Diego) that makes an amazing steak and frites. It is our “go to” meal when we go there.
I’ll have to remember that!! And maybe plan a trip for it! 🙂
Oh my God, I cannot believe that you have been here (the Paris restaurant) this is one of my favourite restaurants, and one where I committed a HUGE faux pas when I first came to live in Paris that is SO bad that I cannot reveal on my blog……..I’ll have to tell you in person
I usually have the Veal here which is delicious
oh no! I can’t wait to hear that!! but this place is amazing! I love it!!
It is not repeatable! But I did not know what I was saying……..
haha those are the best kinds of stories!!
Oh I have a lot of them, but not for the blog lol. Funny as I have just had a cocktail after work with a French friend and was telling her some of these stories (including The Relais de Venise one)
