If you only have a few days in Sri Lanka, I would absolutely recommend you dedicate this few and precious time to Kandy. It’s central and easily accessible location makes it the perfect stop-over plus it is full to the brim with history and traditional Sri Lankan culture. Most of the accommodations in Kandy are small bed and breakfast types so if you’re interested in opting for a modern stay with all the amenities, specifically after a day exploring historical sites, OZO Kandy is the perfect spot. Kandy is a small enough city that most destinations are easily walkable and the OZO is no exception to this. On the rare occasion (particularly following a delicious and large dinner!), when we weren’t up for the walk, the tuk tuk rides were about $2USD from one side of the lake to the other. The rooms are classic and modern, most with a balcony view over Kandy…one of my favorite perks. It is a great spot for a morning coffee or afternoon cocktail. The OZO brand is also all about SLEEP…as am I. They have their beds made specially and even offer pillow menus to aid in the best night of sleep. I particularly enjoyed the little touches — soothing sleep balms to ease the falling sleep process.
The rooftop views are exceptional! Aside from the view, they have a gorgeous pool as well as a bar and restaurant. On a hot Sri Lankan day, this is perfect place to relax and cool off. We dined here one evening and absolutely loved the traditional curries — so delicious!
Breakfast is served buffet style in the reception level dining area. Outdoor seating is also available, which is one of my holiday requirements…dining outside as frequently as possible. I think in Sri Lanka every meal was al fresco!
