Visiting Qatar for the International Food Festival wouldn’t be complete without staying at the original hotel on the scene in Doha, Sheraton Grand Doha. Also, with the added perk that the Festival was being held in the park beside the hotel! The pyramidal hotel was built in the late 1980’s and with it, came the surrounding metropolitan of Doha. This picture is from the late 80’s and shows the hotel with the basically empty surrounding area : From desert to a bright city lights skyline, Doha is now booming! During our city tour (with Falcon Tours), we saw all the incredible projects in the works — including a hanging restaurant! With all the new construction continuing on, it was nice to retreat back to the Sheraton. The hotel has gorgeous views of the sea or the city skyline. My view wasn’t too shabby… I loved sitting on the balcony looking out over the Arabian Gulf and eyeballing the best spots to sunbathe by the pool! The Sheraton has ten amazing dining options but with the food festival next door, we only had time for dining in one! La Veranda is an Italian restaurant with an incredible outdoor terrace offering gorgeous views of the cityscape with the sound of the sea beside you! It was the perfect first dinner to welcome us to Doha!My three favorite spots at the Sheraton were :
my giant, cozy bed with a cup of coffee
finding an amazing seat by the beach or pool
relaxing on this breezy balcony The Sheraton Grand Doha was such a peaceful, relaxing spot to holiday!
