When most people think of Santorini, you think of gorgeous sunsets, breathtaking views, infinity pools overlooking the caldera…but you can’t overlook the romance of the island. I’ve been to plenty of honeymoon worthy destinations so I didn’t too much of it beforehand but after a few hours on this paradise island, I couldn’t help but feel like this was honeymoon central. Well that ship has sailed (many a years ago!), so instead we opted for a very romantic funnymoon* instead. *It’s when you travel with your special someone but you’re not doing the once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon and instead are just funny in love in this over the top romantic place!
For this funnymoon, we had to stay in the most Santorini-esque of places…a dome style suite with a balcony and infinity pool…duh. West East Suites was it. I mean it, it. The views, perfection. The service, unparalleled. The location, spot on. West East suites offers a variety of rooms — some directly opening in this infinity pool overlooking the caldera, some with private jacuzzis and pools, but all are perfectly decorated in the crisp whites of Santorini and all with gorgeous, breathtaking views. Our executive suite had a stunning balcony with jacuzzi tub where we enjoyed the nightly sunset with some Grecian wine. The ultimate funnymoon location. But this is also where breakfast is served daily…and it is the only way to start your day. I was obsessed with the spinach pies and greek salad for breakfast. Could not get enough. West East also offers an on-site restaurant and wine tasting as well as they can happily organize a variety of other activities on the island…spa services, helicopter rides, catamaran cruises, and much more!
West East Suites is located in Imerovigli, basically between Fira and Oia. We walked several days to Fira for exploring and lunches (an incredible walk through cliffside layers of white buildings!) but so enjoyed the quiet, peacefulness of this town. We also hiked to Oia one day from here and loved the stunning views! It is a great location midway between the two major towns of Santorini.
Pin this for later to remember where to stay when you’re in Santorini!
