It’s no secret that I love Italy but my favorite location of the land of pasta, gelato and barrels of vino, is the Amalfi Coast. From the dramatic coastlines and rich blue sea, to the unique local dishes, it is a place I could go back to over and over again. And more and more people are feeling it too with celeb sightings becoming a regular on the peninsula. I’ve mentioned before though that my favorite time to visit is the shoulder season when the crowds fizzle out a bit and the cruise liners are less frequently docking but I think most importantly, you should stay in one of the smaller, lesser known villages in the region. It will give you a reprieve from the crowds but also offers that small town Italian charm. My favorites along the coast are Atrani and Praiano…from both it is easy to visit the namesake Amalfi as well as the popular Positano and a day trip to Capri. But regardless of where you stay, you absolutely cannot miss a stop in Ravello. If you’re opting for a real break from the crowds and with an incredible view from above the clouds, then Ravello is where you should stay. We made a stop this summer to visit the Hotel Caruso in Ravello, a Belmond property, and cannot recommend this enough. From the breathtaking views, an infinity pool you’ll swoon over, a perfect location in the heart of the quaint and beautiful town of Ravello, to the impeccable service you can always expect with the Belmond brand, this hotel is a drool-worthy dream destination.[show_shopthepost_widget id=”2793494″]
